I can't believe this.

Never thought there would be a day when I would write about Porter, of all characters.

But that new Vincent's video really do be scratching something in my brain and it got me back to writing for Redacted so why not indulge~?

So here's a summary so far:

omg i love Dinner with the Vampire Boys so muchhhh

having been obsessing over lovely relationship with magic— an unempowered human, turned electro energetic, turned vampire, all in moments of complete crisis and panic— it dives into such an amazing parallel to porter experience with magic (tho i headcanoned him as being unempowered before his turning but that’s ok i can accept change)(also i wrote a lil tiny fanfic about this lovely’s relationship with their powers called Lightning Lament and i’m really proud of it)

lovely expressing that even though they know they could learn back some of their abilities, the reminder of their limitations is more painful than ignoring it. and porter helping them realize that the only way to grow is one step forward at a time. treasure trying to navigate boundaries better, doing their part to avoid the issues that caused their fight. and vincent doing his awkward best to assure them that if anything porters more open than most vampires.

it’s so fucking sweet omg i cried at the end. just a small zap, a tiny bit of this part of themself that they’d been cut off from for so long. i’ll probably have the words to talk about this more eloquently later but i just love this so much, that’s alll

Porter grew up on a farm or some other kind of working house

Regardless this resulted in him having rough calloused hands. He was never fond of that, but he appreciated being able to do things with his hands that most wouldn't

Being turned resulted in his hands getting softer. Not something he expected, and not something he was comfortable with. Becoming a vampire meant becoming the perfect predator; and perfect predators don't need calloused working hands. Not to say that his hands are perfectly soft, they still have scars and are calloused. They're just a little more outwardly tender now

His nails that he used to bite and keep trimmed now growing long and sharp. Very well managed and manicured, but looking out of place in front of ruined cuticles

The hair he used to bleach and dye in rebellion fading back to the deep natural color (save the tips, he still dyes the ends red)

His eyes were a well of warmth and openness that turned slate grey with flat red specks that shine when he hunts

porter who’s always preening his long, sharp nails, painting and filing them so meticulously because his hands are his pride and joy - even if they’re covered in blood

porter who’s so careful with treasure, keeping his hands flat and gentle against their skin as he holds them, leaving them to marvel at his painstaking care

porter who’s secretly thrilled when treasure begs him to dig those nails into their thighs, their back, their shoulders - and porter who’s always running his fingers through their hair with tender grace, scraping the tips over their scalp

The Porter and Lovely just sitting quietly for a moment will never not to be funny to me. Lovely decked him that one time. Porter’s a general menace and almost made Lovely’s undead boyfriend have a heart attack. You know, they’re on neutral terms.

At some point either of them had probably thought of the other as a bitch, it’s a funny sort of tension between the two.
